Los verbos en el presente

Here is a reminder of the endings we put on regular verbs in the present tense.

Verbs have two parts:  the stem and the ending
In this example, the stem is in red and the ending is in blue.

Hablar       Comer           Escribir

To change the form of the verb to match our subject, we drop the ending and add the appropriate new ending to the stem of each verb.

    Yo hablo               tú  comes              él escribe
